When a couple initially emails me to inquire about their wedding day I always ask them to tell me a bit about their story. I love to hear what makes your relationship unique and it helps me to get to know you both as a couple (also, I am a hopeless romantic).
Back in September 2017 when I heard from Katie and Brendan I knew they were a very special couple. Katie and Brendan had been together since they were teenagers (over 10 years!) and that they were getting married on Sherkin, a little island off the west coast of Cork.

Sherkin Island holds a special place in Katie’s heart as it is where generations of her family have grown up and where she spent most of her Summers as a little girl. Brendan knew how special the island was to Katie so when he decided to pop the question it just had to be on the beach on Sherkin. So, naturally, Katie couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere other than Sherkin Island!

Planning a wedding on an Island was no mean feat and Katie did an incredible amount of organising to make it all happen. Ferries needed organising, cars, a marquee and decorations, but Katie and her family pulled out all the stops and their wedding was an incredible three-day affair, beautifully personal down to every last detail.

To be able to film any wedding is a great privilege. But to be a part of a wedding so intimate and feel like you’re more a friend than a stranger is very, very special. So thank you Katie and Brendan for trusting me with your memories, I hope this film captures the magic that happened over that weekend on Sherkin and it is something you can look back on for many years to come.
